The official release date for The Webboids is 2025/June/22; this download is provided as a chance for people to play with The Webboids before the official release.
I hope to have a few extra assets available for the official release, like poses, possibly more clothing and maybe some hair props. The Webboids package currently available probably won’t change, but if it does that will be noted on release day.
So, what are The Webboids? They’re a standalone, stylized toon character set (male and female) with both a more cartoonish base and the ability to dial in a more semi-realistic look to them, built for use in DAZ Studio. This mini-gallery shows The Webboids in use in a short animated film, as well as samples of the base figures and some of the different style morphs dialled in at different amounts.

The Webboid character meshes have been crafted by the very talented Steve Corder (3D Universe) as a commissioned work for me and I’ve decided to share them with you.
For information on commissioning your own work from 3D universe go to:

On Release Day I’ll provide or link to a tutorial for creating your own clothing clones so that you’ll be able dress your Webboids in different Genesis clothing (as seen in the gallery samples above) though there’s plenty of tutorials online. Making clothing clones for Webboids is the same as for any Genesis characters.
Currently, DAZ doesn’t allow me to provide the Genesis 3 and Genesis 8 clones that I have, as the shape of the clones are too close to the shapes of DAZ’s Genesis 3 and 8 male and female characters and they feel that copying the shape of their Genesis characters infringes on their copyrights, even though the actual Webboid mesh is 100% original.
3D Universe has been kind enough to allow me to use a clone for his original Toon Generations characters, who were one of the main inspirations for The Webboids base characters.
This means that you’ll be able to use any of the Toon Generations clothing, like the clothing available in 3D Universe’s Toon Generations Mega Bundle and other packages (clothing, hair, props, etc.), like this one:
https://www.daz3d.com/toon-generations-mega-bundle
Check the DAZ store for other 3D Universe clothing packages, like football, baseball and basketball sets and many others. If you’re interested in a quick start to modelling your own clothing for Webboids, you can check out 3D Universe’s Toon Generations Developer Pack, it includes 3D .obj meshes you can use with the Toon Generations clone to get you started (there’s even a “how-to” PDF to get you up to speed, though a modelling program is needed… any modelling program):

Another incredible source of Toon Generations clothing in the DAZ store is 3djoji:

He provides a wealth of different clothing, from period to modern military attire, prisoners and guards and even my favourite package, the “Little Heroes” superhero pack:

Add-ons and Updates
Great news, again!
PeTeGe has updated his script that used to allow you to copy a Genesis 8 character’s pose to a Webboid!
It now works with both Genesis 3 and Genesis 8 poses, and is smart enough to know which conversion to use.
As before, he’s made it pretty simple, you add a Genesis 3 or Genesis 8 character to your Webboid scene, apply a Genesis 3 or Genesis 8 pose to the Genesis character and then select your Genesis character and control-select (command-select on Macs) so that both characters are selected, then run the script. The Genesis 3 or 8 pose is now applied to your Webboid.
It will also allow you to copy a Webboid pose from one Webboid to another, and the update includes the ability to use “undo”.
As previously, the download (below) includes a handy little PDF which does a better job of explaining its use than I did.

Wow, this is absolutely amazing. I like cartoon characters and 3D Universe is based in Cape Town. I wish I can visit them at some point as my daughter lives there.
Small world sometimes, isn’t it? I hope you enjoy the characters.
